The DRUMBUDDY was originally conceived by Eric Schedin, a public school band director of 18 years. Eric had watched as hundreds of drummers joined middle school programs, only to quit before high school. Knowing the popularity of drumming and drumlines, he thought that there must be a way to nurture and motivate these disenfranchised musicians. One obstacle he witnessed was the lack of available marching percussion equipment at the middle school level. The idea of a lighter and less expensive universal snare drum holder was born. The universal nature meant that schools would not have to purchase marching drums, since the students already own or rent a snare drum.

In late 2006 the DRUMBUDDY team began talking about the possibility of producing this universal snare carrier. The overall conceptual design of DRUMBUDDY remained intact from the start, but ten prototypes of DRUMBUDDY were needed to perfect the functionality. This was a long process of combining the right design with the right materials to reach an effective, dependable product. The process, led by a passion for quality, lasted a little over two years.

DRUMBUDDY is 100% manufactured in the USA. It has always been a goal to keep manufacturing in the USA and to find creative ways to maximize value.
